Jeffrey’s question changed the day o’ red for me.
“Mommy, why do you and Daddy have to go out just the two of you for Valentine’s Day?”
So I thought about it a LOT. Then decided. From now on Valentine’s Day would not just be about Jeff and I making a big deal about each other. We have 3 other little valentines who need to see us make a big deal about them too. And not just on this day, but every day.
A plan began to form in my mind and the more I thought about it, the more excited I became. It would be a fun night, and one that would edify as well.
It started with a clue…
That led to another clue… that led to another clue… And they figured out the clues together, and they traveled together. When they reached each next spot, they would find another clue, along with a handwritten “what I love about you” note for each person…
And then, they reached their destination…
And each one had a fun treat and a note that said “We love you, _____.” Plus, they had 4 handwritten notes to keep, constant reminders of what each person in the family loves about them.
And so it was that Jeff and I were not only each other’s valentines, but we had 3 other little valentines to share the day o’ red with. It can only be better with more family love to go around. And we are thankful.
