Drive Thru History: Acts to Revelation – A Review

If your student struggles to get through Bible History studies, then you will want to check out Drive Thru History® “Acts to Revelation”, created by Dave Stotts from Drive Thru History®. This DVD set includes 18 30-minute episodes and a full-color study guide. The study guide is a perfect companion because it brings out only the important things to remember from the films. I was given a free DVD set in exchange for this review, and I am SO glad I got the chance to review this. My son struggles with reading comprehension (would rather “watch the movie”), so this is a great fit for us. What sets this apart from other video documentaries is that Dave Stotts walks/drives us through the actual locations we are studying… the next best thing to actually being there.

  • Episode 1: The Gospel Shared at Pentecost
  • Episode 2: The Church Grows in Jerusalem
  • Episode 3: The Gospel Spreads to the Gentiles

Final Thoughts

This is such a great DVD series, especially for visual learners. Dave Stotts makes you feel like you are in the scene with him as he, very conversationally, talks about the people, places and events from this time in history. Specifically for families who want to teach history from a Christian worldview, this series can be used as curriculum with the study guide, or it can be used as a family movie time with discussion. It is truly that engaging. If you choose to use it as a Bible Study, you will find the study guide to be just as engaging. There are full-color pictures throughout; plus for each episode there is a verse, summary, discussion questions, and a “side road” section which is kind of like extra trivia.

Stotts has many other DVD sets exploring The Holy Land, The Gospels, and more. He also has an Adventures program that provides online curriculum for Bible, American, and Ancient history that offers a 7-day trial. I just signed up for the trial to see if that is also something that may work for our family. Make sure to check out the Drive Thru History® website to see everything that is offered.
