I’ve always loved music. It’s been a deep part of who I am since childhood. But over the past few years, I’ve developed a passion for more than just the music. It’s about what happens inside, what happens between us and our Creator God when we send love and adoration His way. Music is just a tool that can draw us to His throne. But the worship is what happens when we are at His feet.
So many times, we get wrapped up in the things we like or don’t like about the worship music at our churches. We worry over the things we like or don’t like about how that worship is being led. But what we really need to do is focus on our own hearts in worship. To focus on Jesus so much that no matter what else is on the stage… no matter what else is going on in the room… we come into His presence. It becomes a personal time when we feel like no one else is even there. In your personal worship time, it becomes just you and God.
This is the reason for Worship Wednesdays. Instead of limiting this blog hop to only posts sharing worship songs (which is what Tune-In Tuesday was), my heart is for all of us to come together and really share worship. To discuss the things that God is teaching us about what worship is… and what it isn’t. I invite you to come by and link up with us every Wednesday. I’m looking forward to the great conversations ahead.
For today, here’s an awesome song from Hillsong… my favorite lines in the chorus are: “You’re the reason that I live, the reason that I sing.” This is my heart for worship. May He be the only reason we sing.
Visiting for the first time. Love the title of your blog! Happy Wednesday!
Thanks, Tara! So glad you stopped by!
That’s quite interesting. I’m not Christian, but I know how important is worship…I appreciate your work! Good Luck!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this great song. I love music, and it can really influence the way I feel.
Thank you for doing this blog hop, Paula. I love it! I’m going to add your Worship Wednesdays button to my blog when I get home from work today!!
Blessings,
~Erin
Thanks, Erin! So glad you’re joining in!!! 🙂
How very true. We can get so focused on the style of worship, the color of the carpet, the length of the sermon… and more… and forget that the point of being in church is to corporately celebrate our love of Jesus (and to introduce others to our Savior)… Keep it real. Focus on the big picture. Whatever!!! It’s a reminder the entire Christian community needs — and it seems to be needed daily! LOVE YOUR POST!
Amen! And that is my desire with this blog hop… We all need to think more about the ONE we worship than we do about what “stuff” we’re using to worship Him. Thanks so much!
Love your blog, its my first time visiting, and I love your post and I have my praise and worship music on when I have my quiet time with the Lord, the music just soothes me, I am going to add you to my twitter. http://www.pamelasheavenlytreats.blogspot.com
Thank you for a lovely post, and for coming by Mommy LaDy Club!
Thanks so much! Worship is one of my biggest passions… thankful to be able to share about it.
Oh, yes. Let’s get back to the basics, shall we? Love this new focus, Paula! (and great song!)
