21 Day Fix – The Review

21DayFix-whatYouGet_ibk3ogBecause my 21 Day Slim Down for Summer Challenge starts NEXT MONDAY, I thought it was time to share more details and my review of the 21-Day Fix program that we will be using for the challenge. I’ve shared how the 21-Day Fix started me on a new path of discipline, and I’ve shared bits and pieces of program details with some of you in the past few weeks. However, this is the first time I’ve really laid out in writing exactly what my thoughts are about this incredible program! As you can see from the video, the 21 Day Fix is a 3-week program of SIMPLE portion control and 30-minute workouts that ANYONE can do. I can’t stress the word SIMPLE enough. I have tried so many different things… nutrisystem, counting calories, other workout videos, running, going to the Y, etc. This is the only program that I stuck to and that seriously changed my discipline (in every way). There is no counting calories involved. There is no giving up of carbs. You literally can lose up to 15 pounds in the 21 days. Not only did I lose 11 pounds, but I also lost 15 inches off of the measurements that you take before and after. The inches lost were spread out, too. There wasn’t an area of my body that did not lose at least an inch!

So what makes the 21 Day Fix unique? The wonderful colorful portion-control containers take all the guesswork out of losing weight. It is so simple to control how much you eat. Trust me, at the end of the 21 days, you will completely understand the definition of healthy portions. What else makes it unique are the 30-minute workouts that anyone can do… from your own home! The exercises vary, so you never get bored. You will enjoy a combination of light weight training, cardio workouts, pilates, and yoga. It is the perfect program for a beginner or for anyone who “used to be” an athlete but has taken a break and want to get back in shape.

If you’ve tried and failed at diet plans, I encourage you to jump into this program! It could be the one that gets you set up for continued success in your weight loss and health. It’s definitely the one that got me back going on the right track.

Fast Track To Fitness 5-Day Challenge!

Copy of day2The saying is true. Jeff has told me this for years, but I’m really seeing how much of a difference it makes to EAT right, not just PLAY right!

Next Monday, March 30th, I will be hosting my very first Beachbody Challenge Group! And guess what? It’s only a 5-day challenge! What does that mean? It means that ANYONE can do it. YOU can do it! For 5 days, we will all join together for accountability in our eating and working out. It will be simple and fun… make new friends and get a kickstart to your fitness journey! Accountability is the key!

Before the week starts, I will add all interested friends into the Facebook group and give you a grocery list for the week. Then, each evening, I’ll post the menu for the next day. Every day, we will check in with each other to see how we’re doing. You will plan to do a 30-minute cardio workout for the 5 days, along with following the eating plan. This is a great way to get rid of some excess pounds before it’s time to head to the pool this summer!

Also, if you are dairy-free, we WILL have a vegan plan for you! One thing I have realized through my own Beachbody journey is that I’m allergic to dairy. Jeff tried to tell me that dairy was my problem for years, and it became clear as I took out certain foods and added them back. So now, most of my diet is vegan.

This Thing Called Discipline

I’ve always struggled with this thing called discipline… in every area of my life… spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically. Good intentions are where I start, but then when the follow-through doesn’t happen, guess what DOES happen? Depression and self-defeat.

Since I spent my 30s having babies, my former athletic body faded away a little more with each pregnancy. And then guess what? More depression and self-defeat. Or maybe it was justification. “I have a mom’s body now.” Nah, not buying it… and neither is my adorable husband.

So at 41, “something” took hold of me (otherwise known as God and Jeff) and said “you’ve got to do this now or you’re in trouble.” Jeff has always wanted me to eat healthier and get back in shape, but nothing (so far) has pulled me in enough to root that discipline into my heart and mind. Then I found Beachbody and the 21-Day Fix.

Even though I’ve never been the most disciplined person, I’ve always had an athletic mind. Guess that means there’s at least potential for discipline in there somewhere. So with more determination than I’d had in the past, I started the 21-Day Fix, excited about the prospect of losing weight and getting healthier along the way.

This program exceeded my expectations! Not only did I lose 11 pounds and 15 inches, but the muscles that were formed from ballet and sports in younger years began to resurface! And to go along with the physical changes, my heart and mind became stronger as well! The 21-Day Fix was such an incredibly simple-to-follow program that I was able to stick with it, eat healthier, work out every single day and excel at what I was doing. So grateful!

So about 2 weeks into the program, Jeff and I started talking about me becoming a coach. He’s always been the entrepreneur in the family (although he’s always said I have it in me). 🙂 So many times I’ve seen great opportunities for stay-home mom businesses, but they’re never even turned my head. This one was different! I believe in the Beachbody company, mission, and simple program so much that I have become a coach and I’m moving on to a more in-depth phase in the workouts. I couldn’t be more excited!

If you read this post about baseball, you’ll remember these things that I love about the game:

I love the discipline it takes for a player to become great.

I love the character that is built in working toward a focused goal.

I love to see players who give it all they’ve got with no fear.

I love mental toughness.

What I have found so far with Beachbody is a program that does JUST THIS! There is a huge variety of programs…. from cardio to dance to weightlifting to really extreme stuff. Something for everyone! And the way I started was so simple that it works for me. If I can do it, ANYONE can! 🙂
