31 Days Through The Gospel – Day 1

31 Days Through The Gospel Icon FlatHere it is, the first day of October! I’m so excited about joining in The Nester’s 31-day challenge this year. For past 31-day challenges, I’ve written about how our thoughts affect our lives, and also about worship. But this year, my heart is seeking to come back to the core of who I am. Even if no one else joins me on this journey, the Lord has very clearly been drawing my eyes, ears, and heart to The Gospel for the past few months. They are familiar stories, but is that all they are to me? How much is the Good News really IN me? Christ died for every one of us, and we need to live with an unquenchable gratefulness for what He’s done.

As I mentioned last week, my heart and my soul desperately need to reconnect with my Creator God. I am committing to a full 31 days of seeking His heart above all else… and I’m praying that what He begins in this 31 days… restores my soul and pours out into the broken places found along the way! This study will lead us to the place where we remember why we are Christians, why we worship, why we love, why we experience grace.

And guess what? I want you all to join me! So, let’s just get started!

The basic premise of this study is to walk through the Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) in chronological order. I’ve never read them like this and I’m looking forward to how God puts all of this together as we go throughout the month. I will post a reading every day (be prepared for a lot of reading each day), along with a couple of prayer ideas & questions to get you started. Please let me know how it’s going! I would love for us to start an ongoing discussion on how this is drawing each of us closer to God and changing our lives!

Day 1 Study Notes:

Reading for Day 1: Luke 1, John 1:1-14

Prayer Idea for Day 1: Pray that God will open your eyes to things you’ve never noticed in these pages.

Question for Day 1: Try to imagine the conversation between Mary & Elizabeth as the baby in Elizabeth’s womb leaped for joy at the sound of Mary’s voice. How do you think these two women were feeling? What words come to mind when you think about how they processed together what the Lord was doing in and through them?

Verse to Ponder for Day 1: And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” – Luke 1:30.

I am SO excited about what God is going to do in and through all of us through this study!

And local friends, here’s an exciting additional part: During the 31 days, I will host an evening of worship, study, prayer, and fellowship EACH WEEK (with food, of course) at our home! 🙂 I’m especially excited about this part because I love getting together with girlfriends, and I love genuine, accountability-filled conversation! If you live in my area and would like to join our weekly crew, please email/message me for more details.
