31 Days of Worship: Day 7 – Great I Am

I shared this song recently on a Worship Wednesday. It’s still one of my favorites.

Because we are singing Great I Am during one of our worship hours tomorrow, I wanted to share some thoughts from my heart about the lyrics in this incredibly powerful song. So, listen and then read below the video.

The phrase “I am” is used so many times in scripture… The New Testament alone is packed full of Jesus’ descriptions of Himself using this phrase…

I AM the bread of life (John 6:48).

I AM the light of the world (John 8:12).

I AM the door of the sheep (John 10:7).

I AM the good shepherd (John 10:11).

I AM the resurrection and the life (John 11:25).

I AM the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

I AM Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end (Revelation 21:6).

Before Abraham was, I AM (John 8:58).

And these are just a few! He truly is the GREAT I AM, and He is so much more than our little minds can even comprehend. Let’s remember this today as we go to corporate worship. Let’s go into God’s house prepared to worship Him fully and freely.

Hallelujah, holy holy, God Almighty, Great I Am!
