31 Days of Worship: Day 24 – Yearning

My soul yearns for you in the night;
    my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
    the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Isaiah 26:9

When was the last time your soul yearned for God in the night?

Sometimes, my husband has trouble sleeping, so he grabs his Bible and reads. There are nights when he finds himself yearning for God… and He follows that yearning. He is such an inspiration to me in his relationship with God.

How often when you can’t sleep, or when you are just sitting around watching tv, do you just tune out… even when the spirit calls? When was the last time you gave in, let Him have a moment (or a bunch of moments) with you… alone?

Today’s challenge is to ask God to give you a yearning for Him like you have not experienced in a long time… and when it comes, to follow it. Spend some time seeking Him whole-heartedly.
