In Tracey’s book, Mom Connection, she encourages moms to find our rhythms.. in relationships and in life. In a very conversational and helpful way, she walks us through the why and the how-to of creating the specific rhythm for our own individual lives. The book is divided into 3 sections: Why We Need Rhythm in Our Lives, Creating a Rhythm for Relationships, and Sharing Your Rhythm.
Each section is broken down into remind-me-of-childhood-titled chapters. At the end of each chapter are 2 discussion/interaction sections… Five Mom-Tested Tips and Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down. These sections are filled with resources and opportunities to see what’s going right and wrong in your life’s rhythm.
This book was very refreshing. Tracey’s writing style makes you feel like you are sitting across the table at Starbucks with her. She is definitely writing to girlfriends. She speaks to us about making sure we don’t lose ourselves (or our marriages) during this tough, but fun, season of parenthood. She also talks about the importance of cultivating deep friendships with other moms. Different sections helped me in different ways, but probably the most important thing I pulled from Mom Connection is that my family needs to have its own culture. We are all so busy…. going here, going there. We need to make sure our family doesn’t lose its special rhythm and connection because of too many outside activities.
I definitely recommend this book for moms… especially moms of young children.
Available May 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group. Special thanks to Revell for sending me a free copy in exchange for this review.
Thank you for sharing this book! How did it help you?
Hi Amber! It helped me to realize that I need to get my rhythm right. As a mom, I feel like I’ve been running around in circles.. life is too busy… too many things outside of our home try to take my attention. It helped me to start seriously working on our family’s culture.
Paula, this is very interesting. I haven’t heard of this book until just today. It seems like I’m suddenly seeing it all over the blogosphere. But your review is the first I’ve clicked on to read. It sounds fabulous and as soon as I finish the last book I discovered in the blogosphere this very same way, I’ll be sure to purchase it! 🙂 Hope you are doing well. I’m so sorry to be MIA half the time. I do try to get out to read your blog as often as possible, but the past month or so has been CRAZY for me. I promise to get better with my visits. 🙂 Love you, friend!
