- Ask God to show you any thought patterns that still need to change (possibly some that we haven’t talked about).
- Whatever He reveals to you, write it in your journal.
It’s hard to believe that we only have a few days left. We’ve talked about so much this month. Do you feel a little more free from the negative thought patterns that you struggled with at the beginning of the month?
Today, we’re talking about freedom. The freedom Christ died for. The freedom we are promised in God’s word. The freedom He wants us to have in our minds… from our fears, our insecurities, our pride, our anger, our jealousy, our worrying, our double-mindedness, our grumbling, our self-centeredness, our defensiveness, our boasting, our legalistic views, our impurities, and the guilt of our pasts. (Plus there’s much more!)
During Summer Adventure last year (comparable to what most of you probably call VBS), the kids sang a song called Set Free. I loved watching them do the motions and seeing how free they seemed to feel. It was awesome! When we did the same song on Sunday morning, it was all I could do to hold back from doing the motions. I probably should have. If I meant what I was singing, I should have felt free to do them. 🙂 Anyway, I wanted to share the song with you guys. May we all reach the point where we can sing FREELY… “This is the shout of a heart {and mind} You’ve set free!!!”
This is my desire for all of us. That we will have this freedom in our minds. That we will believe and apply F.L.E.E. Free Lives Embrace Escape applies to more than just escaping impure thoughts. It also applies to escaping all of the other mind clutter we’ve talked about this month.
Tomorrow we’ll have a big reflection day. This will be your time to look back at the last 28 days and see how far God has brought you. We’ll have some questions to guide us through. And then for the last two days, we’ll talk about “what’s next.” I have so enjoyed this month with you all.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. – Galatians 5:1
To Make You Think:
- Do you see yourself as a free soul? Do you really believe that God wants you to have freedom in your mind and not be “burdened by a yoke of slavery”?
- What steps can you take toward the freedom that is promised to you?
- Before you go to bed, journal about what God has revealed to you throughout the day about how free your mind is.
- Ask God to free you wherever you are still in chains.
