31 Days :: Day 23 – 1 Corinthians 10:13

This Morning:

  • Journal about what thoughts you found yourself dwelling on when you woke up this morning… and how quickly you were able to re-focus.
  • Spend time in prayer, yet again committing this day to your Father… asking Him to protect your mind as you go throughout this day and this week.
Devotion: Battle Verse #4… 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV):
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13

1 Corinthians 10:13 is right up there with Philippians 4:8 in my heart. Even though temptation can be extremely hard to fight… He. Is. Faithful. God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear.

Week 4 of 31 Days is called “In Which We Think It’s Not Too Bad {Or That It WAS Too Bad}.” This week may be the toughest yet. We are talking about purity, self-blame, and self-forgiveness. I don’t know what is in your past {or maybe your present}, but we all have things we regret. And we all have lessons that we have learned {or maybe still need to learn} within our individual mind struggles. We probably also all have things in our minds that need to be let go.

I’m going to be pretty vulnerable again… as these issues are some of my deepest struggles. What I’m asking from all of you is to get real with God. The things we are going to talk about this week are sometimes hard to admit to ourselves, much less to Him. They are issues that we don’t usually talk about as women. But they are there.

Again, my prayer is that we will all find encouragement through the exercises and devotions this week. Stay on guard. Satan may try to hit you this week in ways that you’ve never noticed before.

So for today, start to memorize this verse. Think about what it means. And remind yourself all week. Continue reminding yourself of Philippians 4:8, 2 Corinthians 10:4-6, and Galatians 6:14.

The Rest of the Day:

  • Have a great day of corporate (and private) worship!
  • Throw 2 Corinthians 10:4-6, Philippians 4:8, Galatians 6:14, and 1 Corinthians 10:13 at Satan every time he throws a bad thought at you. Continue to be conscious of the patterns that sneak into your mind.
  • Before you go to bed, journal about today’s thought patterns. Spend some time in prayer, committing the day to the Lord, and asking Him to protect your unconscious mind as you sleep.
See you tomorrow!
