31 Days to a Planted Mind

Three and out. Best way I know to describe the restaurant up the street.

We watched as the new owners started working on the old building that has changed names several times since I was young. They changed the paint color. Put up their sign. Worked really hard to make the restaurant look like they wanted it to. At least on the outside.

Three weeks later, they were closed for business. A “For Lease” sign in the yard. What? Happened?

As I drove by the other day, I was reminded of the wise man and the foolish man.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Have you ever sensed that God wanted you to do something GREAT for Him? We are all called to something great for God. It doesn’t matter how small something may seem in your mind. Maybe you think that you’re “just” a stay-at-home mom. GREAT FOR GOD! You must know that NOTHING God calls us to do is small in His eyes.

Before we can do something great for God, we need to make sure our foundations are set. That we do not step out and start trying to accomplish something without making sure we are grounded in God’s word. Planted. If we try to do something without substance being there to support it, we will end up just like the guys with the restaurant. Three and out.

With that in mind…

For the 31 days in October, we will be doing a Bible study here called 31 Days to a Planted Mind. For months, my heart has been drawn to doing a study based on our thought lives… probably because I recognize my own struggles. So we will be studying together and learning what God’s view is on how we should be thinking (and how we should be NOT thinking).

The time commitment is simple:

  • Devotional and short scripture reading here on the blog everyday (which can also be emailed to you);
  • Prayer/journaling time each morning and each night;
  • Optional forum where we will be discussing how the study is going.
As with anything else in life, you get out what you put into it. The main commitment for this study is to hand our thought lives over to Christ. To allow Him to block out the junk and replace it with His thoughts.

I would LOVE to have many of you join me in this venture. Yes, I will be doing this study right along with you. If you would like to join, either email me at paula@growwhereyoureplanted.com, leave a comment here with your email address, or click on the 31 Days Forum in the top menu and join there. If you know of anyone in your life who might want to be a part, please pass the word.

I look so forward to studying with you!
